Main / Expeditions / Western Altai 1998 Western Altai 1998My children were born in the Altai. To be more accurate – in Leninogorsk, where their grandparents from the mother’s side live. This town is located in Eastern Kazakhstan and nowadays has its old name – Ridder. The town is beautiful itself but its outskirts are more attractive. It is situated in the mountain basin. The wonderful and rather high (2700m) Ivanovsky mountain range is stretching near it. The children spend every summer here. And this 10 days’ trip was a family event. But it also had a creative purpose. We went not little at that, near 100 kilometres. The most attractive place of the route was a massif of granite rocks at the turn of the Lineisky and Ivanovsky mountain ranges, almost on the boundary with Russia. It’s an example of rather accessible, but very interesting and photogenic region.
